Overview

The Department of Radiology, ANIIMS was started in the year 2015 as a part of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences, integrating with the Radiology Department of G.B. Pant Hospital.

This department stands as the only radiological referral center for the entire Andaman & Nicobar group of Islands. It is equipped with essential radiological services such as MRI, CT, Mammography, Full Body BMD, Conventional and Digital X-Ray, Ultrasonography, enabling patients to access diagnostics locally without travelling to the mainland.

All imaging services are provided free of cost from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, six days a week, throughout the year. The department also plays a crucial role in emergency care by providing 24/7 advanced imaging for OPD, IPD, and critically ill patients referred to G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The department is undergoing complete modernization with procurement of advanced imaging equipment, aiming to become a highly advanced and self-reliant diagnostic unit capable of providing all major imaging studies and reporting services within the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

All patients are provided with a printed diagnostic report on a daily basis. These services are available 24/7 for OPD, IPD, and emergency cases.

Undergraduate Teaching

Active undergraduate postings and academic teaching programs based on the latest CBME guidelines by NMC are conducted regularly. Clinical postings for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th professional MBBS students are carried out along with in-house training for interns and junior residents.

The department has also provided hands-on training to students of Biomedical Engineering and Instrumentation during their internships from the mainland and assisted them in completing research projects.
