Department of Orthopaedics – Overview

Orthopaedics is the branch of medicine focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. The Department of Orthopaedics at ANIIMS was established in 2015 and has steadily expanded its range and volume of surgical services. The department operates a Modular Operation Theatre, maintains a 60-bed ward (30 male & 30 female), runs a busy daily OPD averaging ~200 patients, and performs about 60 elective surgeries per month, in addition to providing 24×7 emergency care.

  • Arthroplasty Clinic – Knee, Hip, and Shoulder replacement services.
  • Spine Clinic with advanced technologies for deformity correction and minimally invasive surgery (MIS).

Community Engagement

Along with the local population, we also serve patients from the entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We have outreach facilities in a number of districts on the islands that offer initial care, health education, consultation by senior faculty members via telemedicine, and patient selection for referral services for those needing tertiary care.

We constantly carry out a variety of orthopaedic condition awareness initiatives.
